Welcome to The Lost Index. We are an online collective documenting the lost. That’s a bit vague, however. We record culture in danger of being lost to time: language, literature, music, art, and more. Our past is being threatened by AI companies that burn books, by systemic racism’s effect on language extinction and erasure, and much more. At the Index, we document, little by little, the cultures, arts, and techniques we risk losing. Read more to learn about how we started, where we’re going, and how you can join us!
